Professor Omneya Abdelsalam

Professor Omneya Abdelsalam is Professor of Accounting and Finance at Durham University Business School. She is the Founding Director of the Ethical Finance, Accountability and Governance Research Centre and Co-Founding Director of the Sustainable Development Goals Implementation Network, funded by the Newton Fund.

Before joining Durham University Business School in 2014, Professor Abdelsalam was the Founding Director of the EIBF Centre for Islamic Business and Finance at Aston University. She has also held academic positions at Heriot-Watt University in the UK and the American University of Sharjah in the UAE.

 

Her research has been published in leading academic journals, including the Journal of Corporate Finance, British Accounting Review, Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of Economic Behaviour and Organisation, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Financial Services Research, Journal of Financial Stability, and Journal of International Accounting Research. Her work has attracted significant academic attention, with almost 2,000 citations and an H-index of 17.

 

Professor Abdelsalam serves as Associate Editor of the Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal and as Subject Editor for both the Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money and Emerging Markets Review. She has extensive teaching and supervision experience across undergraduate, postgraduate, MBA, and PhD programmes. She was awarded the Aston University Excellence in Teaching Award in 2005 and the Aston Business School Award for Innovation and Inspiration in 2009.
